Unpublishing takes an approved story off your careers widget.
Steps
- Open Prove, then Stories, and find the approved story.
- Choose Unpublish.
- Read the confirmation and choose Unpublish story.
What happens
- The story goes back to Needs review. It is not rejected.
- It stops appearing on your careers widget.
- It drops out of your approved-story counts, including the Published stories figure on your dashboard.
- It stays visible to its author and to admins and managers.
- An admin or manager can approve it again later.
- The author is not emailed.
Fewer than 3 approved stories
The widget needs at least 3 approved stories. If unpublishing leaves you with fewer, the whole widget shows “Stories coming soon” until you have 3 again. The confirmation warns you when this will happen.

FAQ
Can a manager unpublish a story?
No. Only admins can. Managers can still approve or reject stories that need review.
Is the author told?
No. Kriqy sends no email. The author’s story simply shows as Needs review again.
Why can’t I unpublish?
Only admins can unpublish, it needs the Growth plan or above, and it is not available while a workspace is read-only, for example after a free trial has ended.
How quickly does it leave my site?
The widget loads fresh each time it is opened, so new visitors stop seeing the story. If your own site or browser keeps a stored copy of the page, it can take a little longer to clear.
